Very high at the Exner Rock you have to cross over an adventuresome plank bridge to achieve the Bruneck Rock. The cleavage is hundreds of meters deep (look at the topography). ~~~~~ Hoch oben am Exner Turms ist eine abenteuerliche Übergangsbrücke zum Brunecker Turm. Sie überspannt einen hunderte Meter tiefen Spalt (siehe Topo). ~~~~~

Sometimes ago somebody asked me, why climbers always wear such intensive coloured clothes. I suppose, the reason is, that they are easier to be detected by the crew of an rescue helicopter. ~~~~~ Ich wurde mal gefragt, warum Kletterer eigentlich immer so grell farbige Kleidung tragen. Ich glaube, damit man sie im Falle eines Falles vom Hubschrauber aus besser sieht . . . .

Most of the time the safeguard is only cumbersome. But while climbing, the one and only moment you don't use it, may be the last one of your life. (It once happened to my wife, that she tumbled. Im a lucky man, that she's still alive.) ~~~~~ Die meiste Zeit sind die Sicherungskarabiner einfach nur hinderlich. Aber der eine Moment, wo man nachlässig ist, kann der letzte des ganzen Lebens sein. (Einmal ist es meiner Frau passiert, dass sie abstürzte. Ich bin glücklich, dass sie gesichert war und nichts passierte.) ~~~~~ Here is the situation, where my wife fell into her safeguard - only a few seconds after the photo-shooting. It was a stroke of luck for herself and for me - but less for the photographer, who missed a spectacular photo (She hanging beneath the rock, looking very surprised....)

The trail leads via a well stepped, easily climbable rock mass. Well to be seen is the massive iron cable for the snap hooks. ~~~~~ Der Weg führt über gut gestuften, leicht kletterbaren Fels aufwärts. Gut zu sehen ist das durchgehende dicke Stahlseil, in das die Sicherungskarabiner eingehängt werden.

The Cliff looks challenging - but this part is really easy to overcome. Even for beginners. ~~~~~ Dieses Bild tut sich einem auf, nachdem man einige hundert Meter in der Sonne gewandert ist. Dort beginnt der eigentliche Klettersteig. Der Fels sieht herausfordernd aus - aber dieser Teil ist wirklich einfach zu bewältigen. Sogar für Ungeübte.

After the first 40 meters of easy climbing the trail leads through a narrow canyon to the sunny eastside. In a few moments it will be best to undress the warm jacket. ~~~~~ Nach den ersten 40 leichten Klettermetern führt der Weg durch eine enge Schlucht zur sonnigen Ostseite hinüber. Gleich kommt der Moment, wo die warme Jacke im Rucksack verschwindet.

It was a cold september day, when I climbed this tour again - only two days after my first exploration with the Austrian Alps Association. This time together with my wife and my DSLR. Es war ein kalter Septembermorgen, als ich diese Tour zum zweiten Mal ging - nur zwei Tage nach der ersten Erkundung mit einer Gruppe des Österreichischen Alpenvereins. The most interesting way up to the Rifugio Pisciadù. (As an exception I've the permission of the publisher to show this topography. It helps us to inform about features and difficulties of an intended mountain tour.) Because the Via Ferrata Pisciadù is one of the most famous and easies fixed rope routes within the Dolomites, it is overcrowded at holidays and summer weekends. But in low season is is a great fun to climb it! ~~~~~ Die interessanteste Aufstiegsvaiante zum Rifugio Pisciadù. (Ich darf hier ausnahmsweise mal eine Topo zeigen, an Hand derer wir uns bei der Vorbereitung von Touren vorab über Besonderheiten und Schwierigkeiten informieren.). Weil dieser Klettersteig zu den leichtesten und beliebtesten in den Dolomiten gehört, ist er in den Ferien und an Sommer-Wochenenden meist überlaufen. The Rifugio F. Cavazza al Pisciadù (2,587m, situated directly in front of the Cima Pisciadù) is a popular base for hiking-tours within the northeastern Sella Mountains. The Lago Pisciadù is situated directly behind the refugio. The season is very short there: from June, 21st, until September, 20th, only. ~~~~~ Das Rifugio auf 2.587m Seehöhe (am Fuße des Cima Pisciadù) ist ein beliebter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen im nordöstlichen Sella-Massiv. (Der Lago Pisciadù liegt direkt hinter der Hütte.) Die Saison dort oben ist kurz: 21. Juni - 20. September.

The Lake Pisciadù, situated very high (2,570m) within in the Sella Mountain Mass. Left hand the Cima Pisciadù (2,895m), which is amazingly easy to be climbed from the other side via a hiking trail - sufficient condition assumed. ~~~~~ Der Pisciadu-See, hoch oben (2.570 m) im Sella-Gerbirgsmassiv. Links der Pisciadu (2.895m), der erstaunlich einfach (hinten herum) über einen "Normalweg" zu besteigen ist - wenn man die nötige Kondition hat.

Early morning of a lovely day in September 2015. (Left hand in the foreground the Rifugio Carlo Valentin , 2.218m, where you may stay overnight). The "small" rock peak at the very left of the mountain mass is the Torre Exner (2,494m). A fixed rope route leads to its summit. Next on right - separated by a deep canyon - is the Mur del Pisciadù Occidentale (2,495m). You can go there via a plank bridge. ~~~~~ Sonnenaufgang über dem Sella-Massiv (Dolomiten). Im Vordergrund links das Rifugio Carlo Valentin (2.218m), wo man übernachten kann. Der "kleine" Felsturm am linken Rand des Bergmassivs ist der Exner-Turm (Torre Exner, 2.494m), auf den der Pisciadù-Klettersteig hochführt. Rechts daneben - durch eine tiefe Schlucht getrennt - der Brunecker Turm (2.495m). Man erreicht ihn in schwindelnder Höhe über eine Seilbrücke.

Flower of the autumn crocus. Lovely - but very poisonous. ~~~~~ Eine Herbstzeitlose - lieblich anzuschauen, aber sehr giftig.

In these moments the autumn of this year begins. Nice to meet you and your precoiuos miracles. (The capture shows the flower of a carline thistle, very common in the alps.) ~~~~~ In diesen Minuten beginnt der Herbst dieses Jahres. Freuen wir uns auf seine besonderen Wunder. (Im Bild die Blüte einer Silberdistel, die in den nördlichen Kalkalpen weit verbreitet ist.)

Some minutes ago this year's summertime came to it's end. Thank you universe for all the gifts you gave us, with this capture of a purple gentian (rarely to find within the alps as a consequence of human stupidness). ~~~~~ Vor ein paar Minuten endete der diesjährige Sommer. Ich bedanke mich beim Universum für all die Geschenke, die er uns beschert hat, mit dieser Aufnahme eines Purpur-Enzians (selten geworden in den Alpen infolge menschlicher Borniertheit).
