2011 Pterostoma palpina (Pale Prominent)

2011 Pterostoma palpina (Pale Prominent)
Notodontidae, Notodontinae. Wingspan: 45mm.

One of the commonest "Prominents" in Cornwall, which can be expected at light traps everywhere in its flight season. At rest, this species looks like an irregular piece of dead wood, and the closed stance is immediately adopted on landing. In dead leaf debris, it can seem to disappear on landing, showing the effectiveness of the patterning.
