1996 Furcula bicuspis (Alder Kitten)

1996 Furcula bicuspis (Alder Kitten)
Notodontidae, Notodontinae. Wingspan: 32-38mm.

A sub-group of the Notodontinae are the three smaller species similar to C.vinula, but around half its size. The caterpillars are in the same pattern as their bigger "brother". It was inevitable that, with the fluffiness of the adults that the common names given were "Kittens", and named after their food-plants. The Alder Kitten has only been recorded at the east end of Cornwall, and has the darkest markings of the three.
