Herzlichen Dank, Ulrich! Das ist eine faszinierende Landschaft, auf abgelegenen Estancias hatte man dort den EIndruck, die Zeit sei stehengeblieben. Wenn wir schon icht weit weg können, dann eben virtuell....

Besten Dank, Uwe! Im Regenschatten der Anden ist nur Steppe (im Westen auf der chilenischen Seite dafür Regenwald)- und den ganzen Sommer über bläst ein heftiger Wind.

Reading your reply to Jutta, it must have been reassuring to have reserve fuel. It doesn't look as if there would be any drive through MacDonalds for hundreds of miles. ;-)))

Thanks very much, Amelia! Indeed, filling stations are far apart, the nearest is in Bajo Caracoles, a crossroads of 33 inhabitants with a "hotel"/ café/shop and a petrol pump. When we visited it had a decidedly "old" Patagonia feel to it, the shop sold a vast selection of dangerous looking Gaucho knives;-)

I think Ulrich nailed it when he called it a moonscape!

It's seems like a very unforgiving landscape but in the sunshine, it has a stark beauty to it. I like the earthy colours and the blue sky. An interesting set of images Gudrun.

Thanks a lot, Keith! It's mostly sunny, dry and windy there- and very sparsely populated. In 2003 the pioneer feeling was still strong.

Erinnert mich an Monument Valley, nur nicht so rot.

Schönen Dank, Erika! Ja, man fühlt sich in Patagonien (und anderen Gegenden Südamerikas) oft an die Staaten erinnert- canyons, mesatas und noch viel mehr Dino-Fundstätten als in den USA!
