Hallgrímskirkja with Klais organ
Hallgrímskirkja was designed by Icelandic state architect Guðjón Samúelsson (1887-1950). Construction of the church started in 1945 but the nave was only completed in 1986.
It has a large concert organ built by Johannes Klais, Bonn. The backrests of the benches can be turned so that during concerts people sit facing the organ. For church services the backrests are turned to face the altar and choir.

Gudrun club has replied to LutzP clubIch hoffe, dass es in HH dann a) etwas trockener ist und b) man sich im Michel auch bewegen darf;-) Auf den Turm werde ich mich aber wohl nicht trauen....
Besonders schön finde ich das warme Licht um die Orgel und, dass man im Eingang noch zwei Gestalten erkennen kann!
Die Bänke find ich klasse - bei uns haben Kirchenbänke "unbequem" zu sein, damit die "Büßer" ihre Sünden auch "spüren"!!! ;-DD
Ich erinnere mich mit Grausen an 1.11. auf dem Friedhof - Kälte, strömender Regen und der Pfarrer faselt stundenlang vom Purgatorium, während die Gemeinde dieses sozusagen schonmal "live" erleben darf;-)
Ich steh immer beeindruckt vor solchen Gewölben und komme mir unheimlich klein vor.
