The panels arranged in circles around the monument are inscribed with almost 58,000 names there no ranks or awards all are equal, there is a small hole against each name so relatives can leave a poppy. The site was chosen for the monument because of the distant view of Lincoln Cathedral because returning crews would be looking for the landmark to know they were nearly home, sadly for many it was their last sight of England. The height of the monument is the wingspan of a Lancaster Bomber. I found an inscription with my surname I looked it up he died 19 August 1943 aged 19

This weeping window design has been used many times in the UK often on a grand scale, I like this small village version utilising the alter window of St. Thomas a Becket church at Ticknall by 1831 the population of the village had grown to large for the church and a larger one St. George's was built on the site attempts were made to blow up the old church using gunpowder but it had been well built and the west wall and alter window are still standing

Rock painting is a growing thing in the UK, it's hoped that anyone finding one will post a photo with details of where it was found on the group's Facebook page then move the rock to another location.
This was from a group in Lichfield ( I gave it to a young family they said they use Facebook)
