I saw in the news a group of children were seen on the ice yesterday the police and fire brigade were called they tried to run off and one went through the ice he managed to get out and escape a very lucky lad

The 1549 prayer book required the priest to meet the corpse at the churchyard entrance which encouraged the building of Lych Gates to shelter the corpse and the funeral party. Lych is derived from the Old English 'lich' meaning corpse, very few of the Medieval ones survive. More modern ones like this one often incorporate a war memorial, this one contains the names of the nine men of the village who lost their lives in WWI

The Grade I Listed Building is run by the Master a retired Officer and 8 retired service men and their wives who have their own flats in return they act as guides, visitors providing the income, the Great Hall is popular wedding venue, the building at the extreme left is the chapel, there is also a garden. The image doesn't look to sharp I must have smeared the lens wiping the rain drops off.

A sneaky shot in a coffee shop, the people she was meeting were obviously late and she hadn't been looking very happy but all was forgiven when they arrived

The Grade 1 listed building was opened in 1925 and can be visited Monday to Saturday
