It was a horse drawn tramway at Ticknall South Derbyshire used to take lime products to the canal at Ashby-de-la- Zouch, the arch is the entrance to a tunnel under the main drive to Calke Abbey, not a true tunnel a large trench was dug and the tunnel built and covered over, it is a different shape at the other end

It is more usual here to have even numbers one side of the road and odd numbers opposite

It is possible that the original use of the Alter Rail was a fence, the Nave was like a Market Place and the Alter Rail may not have been to help elderly worshipers stand up ! but to stop animals from straying into the area around the Alter.
The low winter sunlight through the stained glass was creating lovely coloured patterns
