clch - electricity production by nuclear plants

clch - electricity production by nuclear plants
The UK's production of electricity by nuclear plants is [June 2021] the 11th highest in the world. Thanks to the "inter-connectors" the UK also uses some electricity from French power plants [ref "Gridwatch"].
I find it interesting that China is now second in these rankings, but is also still building coal-fired power stations.
Nuclear power stations are, operationally, a "low-carbon" form of electricity, but this ignores the relatively high Carbon footprint of their construction, as this uses copious amounts of concrete & steel.

I understand the environmentalists conflict over the "short term" use of nuclear power, to bridge the gap between "dirty coal" and clean renewables for satisfying the increasing demand for electricity.
