The UK has greatly reduced reliance on two fossil fuels [coal and oil] for generating electricity since 2005, whilst increasing the role of renewables. This graphic does not show imported electricity, now becoming more of a major factor in the UK. For other reasons, the UK's nuclear sector is playing a reduced role over the same period [primarily, the older magnox reactors are being decommissioned]. . . The UK's production of electricity by nuclear plants is [June 2021] the 11th highest in the world. Thanks to the "inter-connectors" the UK also uses some electricity from French power plants [ref "Gridwatch"]. I find it interesting that China is now second in these rankings, but is also still building coal-fired power stations. Nuclear power stations are, operationally, a "low-carbon" form of electricity, but this ignores the relatively high Carbon footprint of their construction, as this uses copious amounts of concrete & steel. . .
