clch - South America's deforestation [2020]

The rate of deforestation in the Amazon [ie Brazil] has been increasing since 2008. This is a very worrying trend and in contrast to the situation in Indonesia.
The loss of trees and forest habitat, especially as a lot of fires are used in the clearing process, is very damaging [both locally and globally] to the ecology and environment.
[But as happens depressingly frequently, mankind's mamon triumphs over gaia]
