The Plaça de la Independència, which refers to the War of Spanish Independence against Napoleon Bonaparte, is one of the best known and most frequented places in Girona. Located in Mercadal district in the city centre, is also known as Plaça de Sant Agustí, because formerly the Convent of Sant Agustí had been raised there. The interest of the square lies 19th-century style, despite it is surrounded by austere identical neoclassical buildings with porches dedicated to the defenders of the city of Girona during the sieges of 1808 and 1809. However, the symmetrical proportions of square corresponds more to current interventions than its architectural past. The municipal architect Marí Sureda was the first who thought up an arcaded square with loops closed and neoclassical, with some buildings having the same aesthetic proportions. The urbanization of the area only followed in part their schemes. The construction of the first theatres in this city, broke down the idea of Martí Sureda. Until the 18th century, what that architect had imagined could not be completed. This part of the city in Noucentisme style is a romantic and timeless creation, from one century to another, nowadays captivates inhabitants and visitors. Pont de les Peixateries Velles Tra i vari ponti che attraversano il fiume Onyar, ce n'è uno molto particolare, in ferro dipinto di rosso, che si trova proprio in corrispondenza delle cases penjades. È il ponte Eiffel, un ponte di ferro costruito da Gustave Eiffel nel 1877, lo stesso ingegnere che dopo qualche anno ideò la torre di Parigi. L'opera era stata progettata dall'ingegnere francese per essere posta all'interno della sua abitazione parigina. In seguito la città di Girona decise di acquistarla per sostituire un'antica pedana di legno rossa (come il colore del ponte) costruita sul fiume Onyar dai pescatori. Una iscrizione sul ponte recita: « Questo ponte venne costruito nell'anno 1877 per la casa di G. Eiffel di Parigi, fu installato in questo luogo dove prima c'erano delle passerelle rosse. The scientific name is derived from the Greek osteon (bone) and Latin spermum (seed). It has been given several common names: African daisy, South African daisy, Cape daisy and blue-eyed daisy. Osteospermum used to belong to the genus Dimorphotheca, but only the annual species remain in that genus; the perennials belong to Osteospermum. Hendaye (Basque: Hendaia) is the most south-westerly town and commune in France, lying in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department and located in the traditional province Lapurdi (Labourd) of the French Basque Country. The town is a popular seaside tourist resort by the Atlantic coast, the "Côte Basque", lying at the same time on the right bank of the river Bidassoa, which marks the border with Irún, Spain. spiaggiamento a Finale Ligure - PiP per la visione panoramica La velella (Velella velella), il cui nome comune è anche Barchetta di San Pietro, è un idrozoo e, per quanto in apparenza possa sembrarlo, non è un singolo animale, ma una colonia di polipi suddivisi in gruppi specializzati: polipi preposti all'alimentazione nella parte centrale (si nutrono di zooplancton), circondati da un altro anello di polipi preposti alla riproduzione, a loro volta circondati da un anello di polipi difensivi forniti di nematocisti (organi urticanti racchiusi nello strato cellulare esterno). La struttura della velella è costitutita da un disco galleggiante grazie ad una serie di camere d'aria comunicanti con l'esterno, sormontato da una parte mebranosa di forma triangolare, che somiglia appunto ad una piccola vela, e le permette di essere spinta dal vento e dalle correnti marine. Nella parte sommersa si trovano i polipi della colonia. Tra i tentacoli vivono delle alghe simbionti, le zooxantelle. Una curiosità: gli individui del gruppo hanno la "vela" inclinata obliquamente rispetto all'asse longitudinale, ma metà della popolazione la presenta ruotata a destra e l'altra metà a sinistra; in questo modo il vento spinge metà del gruppo in una direzione e l'altra metà in un'altra, impedendo che vengano portate a terra, almeno non da venti moderati. Quando invece si trovano in balia di venti molto forti, tutti gli individui vengono spinti nella stessa direzione, spiaggiando numerosissimi lungo le coste.
