Why did the Ruffed Grouse cross the road?

Lol, do you really need me to answer that?? I was lucky enough to notice a largish bird way ahead of me, when I took a "new" (to me) backroad the other day. As I got closer, I realized it was a female Ruffed Grouse. Taken SW of Calgary on 2 May 2013.
