Fungi with a difference

I've had this fungus photo in one of my "To maybe post to Flickr" files ever since I took it on 20 July 2009. A few of us were lucky enough to have the chance to visit Rod Handfield's property south of Calgary, west of Millarville, for a day of botanizing. It was too early for the fungi season, but we did come across this one.
