Found this male (you can just see the faint hint of red on the back of the head) Downy Woodpecker in the Weaselhead natural area, on 3 December 2012. He gave me the chance to get several close shots in nice light. The tuft of nasal bristles at the base of the bill helps to keep wood chips and sawdust out of their nostrils.
