Busy excavating

A small group of us saw this pretty, female Northern Flicker when we did a three-hour walk from Bankside to Mallard Point, along the Bow River in Fish Creek Park, on May 21st. Most of the Northern Flickers that we see here in Calgary are hybrids. I just love their spots.
