One of the photos I took of a Great Gray Owl that I found NW of the city yesterday. Ha, what a lovely birthday gift for me : ) Not the most photogenic perch, but I'd never seen a Great Gray on one of these orange containers (electrical?) before. Rick, thanks for the camera "lesson" on using the S setting on my camera : ) Glad I bumped into you. Not used for this photo, though.
It's the annual May Species Count today and tomorrow. Today will be walking down in Fish Creek Park and tomorrow will be driving in an area SW of the city.
Later today: I am SO tired out, after six hours of walking! Just fell asleep for a short time in front of the TV and now feel worse than ever, ha. I've never understood what "they" say about a short nap reviving a person. It never works that way for me. We ended up with 58 species of bird for our Count today, 3 animal species, 4 butterfly species, 1 mushroom (Morel) and 1 dragonfly species. The highlight was a Western Tanager (bird) and I was lucky enough to get a couple of photos of it, too.
