Highlight of the May Species Count

Highlight of the May Species Count
A small group of us walked for six hours yesterday at Votier's Flats, Fish Creek Park, taking part in the annual, provincial May Species Count. We ended up with 58 species of bird for our Count, 3 animal species, 4 butterfly species, 1 mushroom (Morel) and 1 dragonfly species. The highlight was this Western Tanager, and I was lucky enough to get a couple of fully zoomed and heavily cropped photos of it.

Later: the final result for the Count in just our area (2 cars carrying a total of 7 people including myself) was 65 species of bird, plus 1 Coyote, 2 Red Squirrels, 1 Muskrat and 3 White-tailed Deer. A pretty good day : )
