Mix of colours

I thought these were such beautiful Orchids, growing in the ENMAX Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo. Taken on February 17th. Was out all day today, partly to make sure I didn't sit at home on my computer, making my mouse elbow and upper arm even worse. Was on a walk with friends at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary all morning. I think the highlight - certainly for me - was watching several Northern Flickers displaying. One of the Woodpeckers was a Yellow Shafted with brilliant yellow under feathers, The others were brilliant orange underneath. Most Northern Flickers that we see here are hybrids - a mix of Yellow-shafted and Red-shafted. Afterwards, I called in at the Calgary Zoo, as it is only a short drive from the Bird Sanctuary. Such a glorious, sunny day - rather windy, though.
