Fancy Chair, Fancy Dress. Fancy Ectoplasm?

Brought forward for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "SPIRIT PHOTOGRAPHY/GHOSTLY IMAGES/ HAUNTED HOUSES".
This cabinet card is quite odd because the right side is detailed, with an elaborate set up - and the left side just has the strange foggy mist or "ectoplasm" in place of the rest of the room. What makes this more intriguing to me is that it was taken in Middlebury, Vermont - very close to the (then famous) "spirit raising" Eddy brothers. And my date guess puts it fairly close to all the excitement.
Here's a fun link, if you're interested.

Jackson Studio, Middlebury, Vt.. I have also wondered if she is wearing mourning, decorated with jet beads. Perhaps the ghostly image is related to something she is trying to impart?
