Thanks for posting! I had not seen the 1900 census info before. Ada was my husband's grandmother and lived in Springfield all her life.
The two Samuels (actually Halkard-sometimes Holkard - changed from the original Halkyard when they emigrated.) were Sarah (Halkard) Grimshaw's father and brother. I'm not sure when her father died. Her brother lived with his parents all his life and died in the late 1930s.
BTW - funny, looking at your stream. I used to work in Proctorsville!

I know Springfield very well having grown up in Proctorsville and going to school in Chester.Where did you work in Proctorsville?
Small world isn't it?

Thank you so much for so kindly transcribing this. We visited this cemetery years ago and couldn't find them - then went back a few years later (probably without kids!) and did.
I used to work in the house next to the elementary school in Proctorsville - on the right - for 5-C, which was a Headstart/Daycare program based in Springfield. I was there in the late 70s.
You might be interested in checking out my blog where i'm doing a daily transcribing of Ada's 1915 Springfield diary. She lived in the LaFrance block and then in 1916 she moved to be next door to her parents on Wall Street.I'm sure you know those places if you know Springfield! It's sort of day to day stuff and only a few lines a day but talks all about Springfield in those times.
Well, thanks again.
