My husband's mother used to tell the story of trying to find family. She was visiting Yorkshire and decided to see if she could find any Illingworths. She went into a phone booth and looked int the directory - and many many pages of Illingworths later - she realized that they were almost as common as Smiths up there. : )
I found out about Grimshaw after doing some research into that name. (My husband's side again.) I had never heard it before - but now realize how localized and common that name is up there.)
