Brightline at West Palm Beach (1) - 23 October 2018

Brightline is an express intercity higher-speed rail system operating since January 2018 in South Florida. There are plans to extend the service to Cocoa Beach and Orlando. Shared use of the upgraded Florida East Coast Railway (freight train corridor) means that West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale stations are more conveniently located for the cities they serve than the Amtrak/Tri-Rail stations further inland (west).

The trainsets currently consist of four coaches with a Siemens Mobility Charger SCB-40 diesel-electric locomotive at each end. The sets will be extended for service to Orlando and more locomotives acquired. In this collage of my first views of the system, other than a glimpse of a passing train in Miami, no. 102 is seen at West Palm Beach at the rear of the waiting 1200 service to Miami.
