A sad tale of old 'Eckington' N.East Derbyshire..

Very local to me.. Eckington cemetery.. North east Derbyshire UK. we see a stone memorial... and three small crosses to mark three small graves.
The headstone reads...
''In loving memory of 'Alfred Williamson' aged 24 who lost his life attempting to rescue the following children.
..................................Esther Ann Riley... aged 11
...................................Percy Riley........... aged 9
...................................Rebecca Godson. aged 9
Whom were drowned at 'Plumbley Colliery' March 16th. 1895
The four died in a frozen pond at 'Plumbley Colliery' the children fell through the ice and 'Alfred Williamson' a colliery watchman attempting to reach them died along with the three children,
A fourth child and friend.. 'Luisa Peat' advised the three not to venture onto the ice and was saved.
Plumbley colliery - was one of many small industries and mines scattered along the 'Moss valley' and all water powered.. a single railway was constructed to join the main line at nearby Renishaw...
Many remains and ruins including the grown over dams can still be found today Dj.

you may know that the site 'Plumbley colliery' was the 'Seldom seen' engine house of which I have a photo'... .. I tried to insert a 'pip' of the place.. but all repeated attempts have failed. Nor can I view maps on here... I'll sort it eventually.
Cheers .. and keep good.. from Dave.
Hartelijke groeten.........Frans.
Keep well.... best wishes ..
