Hi Nick! well, I like your fancy fence:) but Im enjoying that great street view from Old Portsmouth! all of you good friends of mine over there, get over here and see our Solar Eclipse with me on Monday! :) This total eclipse has not happened in 99 years! everyone is anticipating the event on Monday at about 1:45 PM just after lunch....

I'm completely in the dark about your forthcoming solar eclipse,but noticed that it covers quite an area over North America. We might be able to see a partial eclipse on the same day at sunset.
An exciting event for you all and I hope that the skies are clear and your viewing glass smokey ~ Enjoy dear Sarah, but have a good lunch first :~) Have you made a special cake to celebrate?

YEP Lunch first Nick:)) our TV shows us the path this eclipse will follow, beginning in Oegon ( hope Mike Wagner and his wife Dee get a great view of it, he is in Oregon) then it comes across and its path drops to the lower US ..In a narrow section as it comes across it will be a total BLACKOUT for a short time. In the graph they show, Georgia, MY State, will have 90% darkness... Folks are rushing through our area on the Interstates getting to South Carolina where it will also be in that section of TOTAL Darkness. We are one state over, so ours is 90%..
NOPE no Eclipse cake :)) BUT hey, that was a good idea! too late to get one together..:) well that's my excuse anyway! :)) Hope your part of the world will see something of this phenomenon in some way!! Let me know. Hugs, Sarah

I first noticed that this event was to happen a couple of days ago Sarah when I read a report about the high parking charges being made to out of area visitors hoping to witness this rare event. I'm sure that if you set out a stall selling total eclipse cakes you'd make a packet :~)

NICK, all around the Savannah, Georgia area on over into South Carolina, rooms at motels/hotels are hard to find , if any at all..... Savannah won't get the totality event that South Carolina will! Even at our Interstate exit here, the foods places are jammed with folks making their way. I found that out in last short while when having lunch with a son and G/ daughter!! its so very interesting out there. a friend of mine, she and I have been trying to find the special glasses, she called from Savannah while there yesterday saying she had found some, from a lady SELLING THEM FROM THE TRUCK OF HER CAR in a parking lot!! for $20.00 EACH!! uh uh, we won't be paying that price for these glasses, Even IF they ARE the real deal,. and safe too... Our local schools systems have been furnished the real certified glasses for ALL THE STUDENTS! Bravo !!! Hugs, Sarah OH still, NOPE on those cakes :))))

At school we simply held a piece of clear glass over a candle to make a smoked glass viewing facility back in the early fifties ~ Worked a treat :~)
