So wonderful! The colors of the scene are so great - and the energy of the ocean shows so well.
How did you not get wet?!

I got wet! But I knew to turn around at the right time, unlike a new arrival with all the latest camera gear. He just had time to explain that he'd driven for four hours to get here after hearing the weather forecast and had always wanted to film a stormy day here when the biggest wave of the day completely knocked him off his feet and drenched all his gear. As this is a decent family site, I won't repeat him verbatim but suffice to say he was a little bit less than gruntled!

Oh no! Well, even if they didn't get a photo, they will remember the day in great detail!!

Glad you understand waves better than that. It's like staying out of the way of a kid on a swing.

A lifetime's practice, Laura, but even so, mistakes can happen so I really do make my kind of risk assessment before I do anything like this, climb a mountain or whatever. Seems to have worked so far, touch wood! (I think you say 'knock on wood', stateside!)

Yes, we do say "knock on wood". Seems an odd variation from "touch wood" - getting more dramatic over time? What's next, "get a splinter"? *smile*

Wow what a superb sight. I really miss the sea and although I love it when it's all serene, I also love it wild like this. It must have been very exciting standing there watching the waves crashing over the wall,

Thank you Andy! Yes I have stood there watching the waves crash in many times, and on one occasion watched some young lads diving in....they were loving it, but they scared me! Thanks also for the notes in PiP, as I didn't know about the monkey hut. I would love to be there again!

I've seen whole familes, all ages, do the same and the first time I saw a mere child dive in my heart leapt into my mouth! ... but then, as you know, it's what they do in Portreath!

Thank you, Eunice! I only had to travel about 10 miles. It was the fellow standing next to me with all the expensiv gear who had travelled for 4 hours to get here, only to be inundated within seconds of setting up!
