I see walkers with hiking sticks everywhere nowadays. I have heard the theory but I see how they use them and they can't make the slightest difference to the health of their ankles, knees, hips or spine! They are just a fashion accessory.The only thing they do is annoy other users of the mountains because they all go past hitting their metal sticks on the rocky path and the combined effect of a group of elderly walkers is to shatter the peace and quiet of the countryside absolutely with their confounded racket!! A curse on the bloody things, I say!

I don't think so, Steve. I doubt 1% of the Cornish know or care who he was, let alone what he looked like!
Don't forget they voted overwhelmingly for Brexit, not understanding that, as a very poor and deprived region, they receive a LOT of subsidy / funding from the EU! They will now be horrendously worse offI None of this was explained to them in the run up to the referendum, the complacency of the Remain factions was, in hindsight, criminal in my book! I am very deeply saddened by the whole sorry and unnecessary fiasco. I try not to go into politics on this site and have seen one or two others exhibit quite violent thoughts and attitudes around the issue of Brexit and I have no wish to get involved. That should be left to other places where they are welcome, but not here, imho!

I have to say that I got the name from a Panoramio member who posted a shot of the island and said that he thought it looked a bit like ...
So I can't claim originality, but neither is it the actual name of the island! I forget what it is called. I did look it up once!
