A nasty dent in the crash barrier

All the points you raise, Peter concern me too (including the crash barrier dent; I do hope it wasn't as nasty as it appears!)
This is a walk I do 3-4 times a week between a mainline station and a new business centre. It is a 10 minute walk across a delapidated car park, and a building site that has been an eyesore since the onset of the recession. At least a bit of colour has been allowed to enter here. This is sponsored street art, the socialist Madrid city council (think Corbynism rather than Gaitskellism) gets some things right and my bone-grindingly dull walk has just got a little bit brighter. It will go, just as soon as the new business centre gets the fourth go-ahead (although with a sudden change of government, that could be another spaniard in the works!)

HFF, Andy. These are bright and colourful and I hope they aren't soon defaced by less talented idiots!

I fear it is already happening, I plan to upload my shots of these, (about 20) over the coming weeks, to preserve them in pristine condition for the record. I agree with Peter Castell that graffiti normally annoys me, but when authorised, and when it covers a derelict area and where the artwork is skillful and creative, then that is a different matter.

I also used to resent the graffiti... but when it is good .. yes... it does bring some colour and humanity to what are usually dire places

IT certainly makes the concrete much brighter! I think it's a good idea to allow street artists to spray places like this, it can make a city quite attractive, as can be seen in Oslo or Berlin.

I agree with Gudrun - I think the most cities have such ugly concrete places which will be much more nicer with graffiti and there are really artists, as we can see above!

A nice record of the pictures as the artist intended. Shall we re-visit in a few weeks when the delinquent youths with (ripped) falling down trousers and backwards baseball caps have had a go with their own paint sprays!
