Kinbane Castle

Kinbane or Whitehead Castle was built on a limestone promontory on the north coast of Northern Ireland in the sixteenth century by the MacDonnells of Antrim. It was first the home of Colla MacDonnell and later of the MacAllisters. Only the gatehouse and a few sections of wall remain and the castle can be reached only by a long series of steps down the cliff behind. We visited Kinbane and number of other places the last day of our stay on the north coast.
