Black Opal Pool

Black Opal Pool
This is Black Opal Pool in Yellowstone National Park's Biscuit Basin. To my mind it is one of the most beautiful geothermal features of the park, both for its colors and its setting. Biscuit Basin is along the Firehole River and the pool empties into the river.

ColRam, , buonacoppi, J. Gafarot and 22 other people have particularly liked this photo

Fabulous presentation and I missed this one, so very happy I looked back through your photos and found it waiting for me. The blue with orange edging is just gorgeous! Each of your insets are wonderful too, though I would have to say your main image is most dramatic!

Fun to see a comment for you from Nancy on this picture, now nice that you two are enjoying one another's pictures! It's a bit sad but Steve neither looks at my pictures nor reads my posts. Only on a rare occasion, anyway. He sees many pictures I work on but not on ipernity. It used to make me feel really sad but I understand why this happens now, though I've not talked to him about it... I can only imagine that looking at my pictures and reading my posts make him feel bad because he doesn't do either, though he wishes he could dredge up the interest. When I thought about that, it made total sense...I wouldn't want to be reminded of this hole in myself either. He wishes that he was creative with his photography and also that he was writing sometimes but it's just not where his head is right now. Who knows...maybe he'll come around. I do love to see the two of your admiring one another's pictures and writing. It's really neat!

Thanks for the comments about my dragonfly moult! Gosh, I'd forgotten about that picture and in all honesty, I couldn't believe it was from a dragonfly, so I looked it up. Yep, it sure is (thought it had to be a cicada)...what luck that I found it!! Heh, I'll be sure to give you a ring the next time I find one and you can hot-foot it down here (or wherever it presents itself)...HAH! Fat chance I'll see another one, right?! It's so incredible when we get these amazing chances and can capture our find so crisply. :)

BTW, you have me thinking of a super duper awesome cool find I discovered not more than 200 feet from the house...but I wonder if I'll ever see another one: www.ipernity.com/doc/290645/17693983
Talk about an awesome little guy! Now, they are supposedly not that uncommon, so if I were to make it my mission to find another, I might get lucky but who knows?!

Thanks for letting me know what room you are staying in...WOW! Talk about posh digs!! How ornate and luxurious! I hope that you two enjoyed your stay--such a treat. I know it must have felt a little weird and foreign to stay there--I feel that way too in such situations--but it's a fun thing to do at least once or twice when you're old enough to recognize how special and rare the opportunity is! :) Your kids are wonderful to you guys!!

Your day sounded SCRUMPTIOUS!! And you got to ride bikes to enjoy every bit. 20-30 miles, how awesome is that?! Electric-assisted sounds PERFECT and allowed you guys to really enjoy yourselves without getting too exhausted. I've never been on one but have seen plenty. That's just so nice that it all worked out for you. I am smiling while thinking about how much fun you said you had, it's just the BEST! :) I am not surprised you racked up walking miles too, as you explored all the nooks and crannies of each stop. LOL, what time did you two fall face-first into bed? I'm going to bet it was early and that you both didn't move from your zombie-like positions until morning! All that fresh air and exercise, the huge amount of concentration taking pictures, exploring each place and learning about everything...heh--sleeping like rocks would be about right! :D *HIGH FIVE* :D

Flowers too AND mockingbirds?! Fine. Rub it in. I'll just sit here and cry. :D :D J/K, I'm delighted that you saw such a wonderful bird and the flowers too. It really sounds like a spectacular day and every bit so well-deserved for you guys! :)

Ok, it's midnight here and I'm falling asleep! You guys have a lovely day and thanks so much for your lavish attention while you've been able to...and don't worry if you aren't able to stay in touch as the days pass...it happens! :D Have fun!!! *big hugs*

P.S. I adored the picture Nancy posted of the two of you...lol, you guys are just the CUTEST! :D
