Tahquamenon Falls State Park

Tahquamenon Falls State Park
Tahquamenon Falls State Park is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan near Lake Superior. The Upper Falls are the most spectacular and are Michigan's largest falls. The Lower Falls are really just cascades which go around a small island in the middle of the river. That island can be reached by rowing a boat across the basin below the falls, which we did when we visited there. These photos were all taken from the boat we used and the foam is from the falls.

The lovely Autumn colours, so nicely reflected in the lake, are enhanced by the interesting patterns of the foam.

Ah, what a marvelous feast for the eyes, Ron. Every image demands a long and appreciative stare. Your main image is the winner though, the pattern of the foam in the water is just so marvelous as it pulls ones' eye around the image. Fantastic. And then, when I'm done flowing around the picture, I notice the gorgeous wall of autumn colors staring back at me from the background. SO PRETTY!!! Every inset is fantastic and I cannot pick a favorite from them. You make me want to go out and take pictures...but I'm just going to have to wait on that. It's a sad state of affairs to have pictures I know I cannot get to, so...as we drive around, I am appreciating our fall immensely but I'm not going to take pictures unless we do end up hanging out at a campground once we get our rig home.

How delighted I was to make you basically fall out of your chair with the black petunias! HOORAY! :D I was hoping for that reaction so I couldn't be happier. :) I enjoyed your comments so much...I looked up Bat Flowers, aren't they spectacular! :) BTW ty for the correction on my misnamed golden echinacea--you're RIGHT...they're Rudbeckias...I think...heh...the species are sometimes interchangeably named though they are a bit different. I just assumed they were echinacea since they were in the same area but so many flowers are planted together, who knows?!

I'm glad you've finally gotten rested up. What a long drive for you guys! Nice to hear about all of the things you've been doing to catch up...oddly enough, I think we have the same powered motors for our boats! Isn't that funny?!

It's always fun to hear you talking about Neal. You are such a good dad. He's a handful and you are marvelous with him.

How nice to arrive home to find that Nancy's hard work in the yard is paying off. Fabulous! Your remark about needing to blow away the pine needles reminded me of something I learned the other day...did you know they are used to make baskets??!! I had no idea! There are youtubes and web pages to show how to do it...maybe some day I'll try making one, that would be really cool!

Re: upcoming trips in our new RV...we'll have to see. Our property is up on a hill that has enough steepness to it that Steve's concerned about the difficulty of making the drive up there if it's wet. It's a concern--the new trailer is a lot heavier than our first one and our truck is a 2-wheel drive so if we have any issues, we're going to be sticking to dry-travel days only. It would be a shame because I'd love to hang out at a state park at least for a few days but if it means we might not be able to haul the trailer up our hill...that sounds like a real nightmare!

Ok, I'm out! Have a lovely evening! :)

The foam makes a great leading line for your main image, Ron. They're all a beautiful set, with the river and the autumn colours. I hope your weekend is going well.
