Tahquamenon Lower Falls

The Upper Tahquamenon Falls are Michigan's largest waterfall, but the Lower Falls are very beautiful as well. They are about four miles downstream and there is a trail between the two, though we drove from the Upper to the Lower Falls. The Lower Falls are a series of cascades that go around a small island (the land on the left in the photo. These photos were all taken from the walkways near the car park, but we also took a rowboat across to the island and walked the trail around it to see the other set of cascades. The cascades in this photo are on the right fork of the Tahquamenon River. The other cascades are only partly visible from the area of the car park. The state park in which these falls are found is on Michigan's Upper Peninsula not far from Lake Superior into which the Tahquamenon River empties.
