Desert Cottontail

This Cottontail Rabbit it native to the southwestern deserts and was photographed late in the day at Joshua Tree National Park. I decided to post some "critters" today, among the last of the Joshua Tree photos I've been posting.

He is apparently trying very hard to hear everything around him ...
Greetz, Christien.
Thanks for the comments on my pictures, I was delighted that you couldn't decide which image you liked the most! :D I too am a huge fan of lichens but I rarely post pictures because it's kind of a specialized attraction. However, I'll be posting more as insets now that I can see what a super vehicle it is to share pictures that may not be as "popular" but are still fantastic to see and worthy of sharing.
I enjoyed reading about the leaf fungus. I'm sure these leaves had something like that going on, it was not normal-looking. Still, I just love seeing fungus attacking leaves, the appearance is almost always beautiful, though not fun for the leaf! (ty for the link, I enjoyed seeing your example)
LOL, Ron...once again we are the same. When I take a picture, it's just not enough that I have a nice picture. I need to know what the subject is! It's a great excuse to learn! I love that you are the same way. Personally, I simply don't understand how a person can post a picture with a code for the title and nothing else. It's completely bonkers to me and not possible for me to do! Must Inform and Educate! At the very least for my own self...I mean...why would you take a picture of a cool thing and not learn more about it??? *scratches head* Besides, learning about the subject is fun and fascinating!
Mistletoe...you certainly have cleared up my misconception that they only grow in oaks!! What do you know. Ponderosa pine too? Not in ours, that's for sure!
LOL I love that you use Mistletoe for your fiendish purposes whenever you find some! :D Not the worst thing to be doing with your time together, and it's just so adorable to picture! So sweet. :)
Wonderful find, Ron!
