Pokeweed

Pokeweed is a native plant of the eastern USA, these berries photographed at Bass River Recreation Area in Michigan. The plant and berries are toxic and become more so as the plant matures. The berries are useful, however, for making ink and dye, though the plant is seldom used either way today.
