These Snowberries, the fruits of a native shrub, were photographed on a hike to Newman Lake in eastern Washington with other family members.
It has been a tough week. Our trip to Canada next month to see our grandchildren there had to be cancelled due to covid restrictions.
We had a windstorm Wednesday that left us and many others without electricity and we are still without - maybe for another four or five days.
We have a generator and have had that running for three days but can only run the refrigerator, a small heater and our phone chargers s from that.
The storm also blew down a tree across the road and all the debris from that is piled in our front yard with little hope of it being removed soon.

We often walk a loop that follows a lane behind our home and usually take cameras along as well. These frosted leaves were photographed on one of those walks.

Out on a very frosty morning, I took these photos on the grounds of Lakeland Village, a facility for handicapped persons. They have many Hawthorn trees on the property and the berries were extraordinarily beautiful with the frost.

More snow yesterday and I am weary of winter, as I have been since the beginning of November, but trying to make the best of it, we've been out many frosty mornings taking photos, this of Hawthorn berries covered with hoarfrost.

These Hawthorn berries had collected a layer of hoarfrost on a cold January morning and I spent quite a bit of time photographing them on the grounds of Lakeland Village, a facility for the handicapped.

I am not sure of the identification of these berries but think they are Chokecherries, a small edible berry. Whatever they are they were photographed on a frosty morning near our home.

I believe these are chokecherries, the edible fruit of a native shrub. They are supposed to be sour or bitter but the flavor improves with cooking. These were photographed after frost.

Not certain of the identification of these berries but the the photo was taken when the leaves had fallen and the berries had been touched by frost. I think they are Blue Elderberries, but if someone knows better please let me know.
Pokeweed

Pokeweed is a native plant of the eastern USA, these berries photographed at Bass River Recreation Area in Michigan. The plant and berries are toxic and become more so as the plant matures. The berries are useful, however, for making ink and as a dye, though the plant is seldom used either way today.
