Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes

Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes
Driving down from Aguereberry Point through Emigrant Pass we finally arrived in Death Valley itself and our first stop there was the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes. We walked out on the dunes and explored them for quite some time before driving on. In this photo, taken from a distance they look deceptively low and unimpressive, but they are in fact quite extensive and the highest dunes a good climb.

A great shot and fascinating how the dune area seems isolated from the rest of the landscape.
