Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes

Mesquite Flat is one area of sand dunes in Death Valley National Park. There are four others, but this is the only area of dunes that is easily accessible, lying along the main road and with a parking area from which one can walk into the dunes. Most of the other areas require a four-wheel drive vehicle or a long hike. I included the figure in this shot to give some perspective. The mountains in the background are the Amargosa Range.
