Derby Canyon

Derby Canyon is near Peshastin, Washington, on the east side of the Cascades, and is a favorite place for spring wildflowers. We were in the area this past week though this picture was taken a year ago. The photo was taken along one of the roads in the canyon, a logging road, and looks back down the canyon. We had stopped here for photos of Lewisia tweedyi (see inset), which grows only in a limited area on the east side of the Cascades and which is found in abundance in this canyon.
