Midland folly I

Midland folly I
This is beside Highway 97 in the tiny town of Midland, Oregon. Population 265. I don't know how long it's been here, who built this or why, only that it's nuts and very entertaining.

Edit 4/26: I just noticed something at the location. To the side of the castle is what looks like a BMX-style or go-cart track that was abandoned in the planning - or after failure. The end of it trails off to line up with the castle, possibly intended to lead under the wider opening you see above. (But, wouldn't an obstacle like that be dangerous?) I'm leaning toward dirt bike track because of something that looks like a start gate at one end of the oval. Also, perhaps it's banked at the opposite curve, but not sure. (Yes, the more I look at it, it's not for go-carts, but for bicycles.) So, maybe the whole thing was supposed to be a bike park for kids or a roadside attraction, maybe connected with the motel on the other side.

AA290 Funny.
