St. Moritz, Taufkapelle - St. Maurice, Baptistery

➽ Die Taufe ist der Eingang in das christliche Leben. Taufkapellen oder Baptisterien sind deshalb in der Tradition oft dem eigentlichen Kirchenraum vorgelagert oder aber im Eingangsbereich platziert. In der Neugestaltung von St. Moritz wird das Baptisterium, das beim Wiederaufbau nach dem 2. Weltkrieg eingerichtet wurde, wieder als solches genutzt. Es ist vom Vorraum aus zugänglich und beherbergt neben dem Taufstein die Osterkerze, die Heiligen Öle für Taufe, Firmung und Krankensalbung, sowie einen Brunnen für das Weihwasser. Der Durchgang vom Baptisterium in das nördliche Seitenschiff wird wieder geöffnet. Quelle

➽ Baptism is the entrance into the Christian life. Baptismal chapels or Baptisteries are therefore in the tradition often precedes the actual church or placed in the entrance area.
