Golden delight at Sea caves

Another from this area of rocky coastline just north of Paphos in Cyprus. This taken just as the sun was starting to set. We were so lucky that we were staying within sight of this area and so I could rush down whenever I saw the light getting like this. Hope you too think it was worth the effort?
A full screen must!
Mrs Fox, guards the den
At home we see one or two urban foxes and so it was with surprise that I spied this one high on the side of a hill keeping a lookout of the crows at this very obvious den. A few moments later she hopped out and was on her way back out of this large valley towards the nearby urban sprawl on the hunt for food no doubt. My lens and closeups of her revealed that she probably had pups in here. The nearby crows were also showing interest here as can be seen.
A vision of Stromness

Stromness on the Orkney Islands is the setting for this colourful view. Taken fom the Orkney -Scrabster ferry: Hamnavoe.
Having just been reminded of my visit to this wonderful Island, I thought you might like an re-airing of this rather artful interpretation of the famous little harbour town here.
Posted here in the NC500 group as many travellers of that route make the short ferry detour to Orkney too.

A fitting tribute in sound: Fairwell to Stromness music best listened to whilst viewing this full screen.
Urban- high fence
Walking along the Coastal Broadwalk of Paphos, Cyprus we can see fences where we would not expect to see them. Here between the ‘Alexandra the Great’ hotel and some apartments, up to the main road, is this attractive waterway. It is actually the outlet to the sea of the River Limnaria. I expect it can at times be a torrent. High above us is this fenced walkway that I unfortunately did not explore. It finishes as a dead-end just behind me.
I wish you all, a great weekend, Herb
Three Trees

Taken near Clun Shropshire -simple but neat!
One from the archives here, following my lone tree trail. Notice my old style border.
Nice full screen.
Trow Gill Gorge
A favorite walk for us as we visit the Yorkshire Dales near Settle again. Trow Gill, a wooded limestone ravine at the head of the 'Reginald Farrer' nature trail at the village of Claham. Now a dry gorge, Trow Gill was possibly once an underground cavern formed by waters which now take an alternative route through the Ingleborough Cave / Gaping Gill system. At some point in time the roof of this cavern is believed to have collapsed - Trow Gill being the suggested result (though other theories have the ravine as simply a glacial meltwater channel). A Rossbeigh sunset

The tide has started to go back out. These poles, that may one day have been a pier of sorts give our eyes a suitable anchor to the joyous sunset.

Spotlight on an Autumn tree
People who have followed my work for some time, especially on other sites will know that I am a lover of the 'Lone Tree' photo. Here is one of my trees from 2014
Taken in the 'Chew Valley' not far from my beloved Dovestones Dam, Oldham. The morning sun just peeping above the enclosed deep valley starts to light up this tree without as yet lighting up the background scree. (The two boughs from the same trunk almost makes it look more like two trees!)

Treebeard
Seen near St Georgios, Cyprus. There can be strong winds coming from the north over the sea just metres from here. Years of battling the winds can cause strange shapes in some trees. To me a photographic oddity. This is almost certainly a Juniper which are coniferous plants in the genus Juniperus of the cypress family Cupressaceae.
ps Treebeard is -a famous tree in the Tolkein Lord of the Rings novel. So maybe this tree is in reality an 'Ent' :)
Lighthouse view via fence

A long view looking over to Valentia Island and its lighthouse at Cromwell Point from the mainland around Cathesiveen in County Kerry Ireland. As you can see here, fences abound.

Storm brewing at Peyia
This area of rocky coastline just north of Paphos in Cyrus is a delight to explore but it can be very dangerous to man and shipping alike. This storm came from nowhere and was gone just as quickly. Not the ideal conditions for swimming or a small boat. The monochrome here helps convey the feelings I saw here too.

Well maybe not quite like this and certainly not on this wonderful beach at Rossbeigh in County Kerry.
As to other views that this stranger was taking, you will have to visit later :)

Pied Wagtail (adult)

Motacilla alba: Seen in County Kerry, Ireland last Autumn but I do see these often by our local big rivers and small streams over here on the British mainland too. A rather nice bird to watch and listen to too, with their bobbing tails and often seen with a fly or small fish in its beak.
Skopelos

SPC Roofs. A fleeting memory of the beautiful Greek Island of Skopelos from my trip here in 2012. Taken from our small tourist ship, arriving from Skiathos. All these wonderful buildings are looking over the gorgeous bay. A town of hundreds of churches that were once used as protection from pirates.

HFF – Wrecked fence
Here at Sea Caves near Paphos, Cyprus lies this impressive wrecked ship: Edro III.
Of course a fence is quite appropriate perhaps to stop cars and people from getting too close. –
In case you want to get a higher view though, you had better heed the warning on the PiP.

Reach to the skies
A walk up my local 'Chew Valley' brings me to a favourite tree again. Each time it seems to have grown a bit taller. Just behind me there is snow on the ground. The sky, not only showing the flight path of an earlier aeroplane to Manchester but also the first signs of Storm Gareth. The tree -a Silver Birch, is beautifully lit here by a low subdued sun just showing itself over Indians Head, also behind me.
Enjoy large.

A cold walk at Lees Brook

Lees near Oldham, is not known for its beauty! However, when one knows where to go, it has a wild beauty beyond measure as seen here on this very cold day.
