Treebeard

Seen near St Georgios, Cyprus. There can be strong winds coming from the north over the sea just metres from here. Years of battling the winds can cause strange shapes in some trees. To me a photographic oddity. This is almost certainly a Juniper which are coniferous plants in the genus Juniperus of the cypress family Cupressaceae.
ps Treebeard is -a famous tree in the Tolkein Lord of the Rings novel. So maybe this tree is in reality an 'Ent' :)

They can also be used in sweet dishes such as fruitcake. Juniper berries also provide the main flavouring for gin." All this as well as a herb in certain medicines etc. : It is also used for urinary tract infections (UTIs) and kidney and bladder stones. Other uses include treating snakebite, diabetes, and cancer. Some people apply juniper directly to the skin for wounds and for pain in joints and muscles. The essential oil of juniper is inhaled to treat bronchitis and numb pain.
