Fountains Hall

Fountains Hall
Fountains Hall, a Grade I listed building owned by the National Trust, is situated within the World Heritage Site at Studley Royal Park which include the impressive ruins of Fountains Abbey.

The late Elizabethan house dates back to between 1598 and 1604 and was built by Stephen Proctor. Stone from Fountains Abbey ruins was used in its construction.

A very impressive looking piece of architecture...............I love the symmetry and the colour of the stonework. Beautifully sharp and detailed too.

It was most impressive Keith. A pleasant surprise too for us here. In some ways it is a disappointment to realise that much of this was built from the old stones of the Abbey but that is recycling I suppose. Glad you liked it.

Quite easily overlooked when considering the abbey and water gardens too but this is a very pleasant part of the whole with a nice partially walled garden too. I think it was possible to go inside but we never did. Gad you liked it.
