A great perspective here Herb...................and the view through the archway is nicely framed. I like the symmetry and the detail in the stonework.

Yes a little effort to correctly frame this and I must admit that a suitable zoom lens and good editing software does wonders too. I think the lawn area was recently re-laid turf but I might be wrong. Certainly nobody was allowed to walk on it. Glad you enjoyed this.

Impressive pair!

It is very beautiful, Herb. I was astonished at some of the abbey ruins in North Yorkshire. They really are significant and heroic in size, age and architecture. Your photos bring me very warm memories of scrambling all over Rievaulx Abbey, in awe. Thanks. Have a fab day…D

I do wonder how the monks at the back managed to pay attention during a boring long sermon!!
