The other side of the pond

The other side of the pond
A view east over the Atlantic to the Island of Martha’s Vineyard in the far distance and then mainland Europe some 3000 miles further. We are near Newport, Rhode Island which in itself is around 150 miles north of New York.
It’s rather nice to see some familiar type of coast with cormorants drying their wings on the small island in front of us.

Thanks Gordon. I have never seen many like this from the US but this shot proves it is all there, just a different mind-set to capturing such things.

Very well composed Herb with great light and a a nice sky. I love that rocky foreground, the detail and textures are spot on...........and you're right about it being familiar........without your title and narrative, if I'd had to guess the location I'd have said somewhere in Scotland!

You have to go very large to see the cormorants, but they're definitely there :-))

Nicely shot Herb, with the rock pool in the foreground. I've always enjoyed clambering over a rocky shoreline to find out what wildlife has been caught in the pools and your photo makes me want to go and explore!

Yes, Ireland too, but the closest European mainland, I think is Spain!
