Drinking fountain of Bamburgh

This is situated very near the castle in the main square of Bamburgh in Northumbria. Actually it is described as 'The Old Animal drinking fountain'. The fountain dates from the early 19th Century and is grade II listed.

The water does go into a nice sink type of structure before it drains and I did see a dog go to that and take a drink and so yes, its still in use. However I did not see water coming out of the tap nor any way that you would make it do so. maybe the pump handle was just out of sight.
