Paphos Castle

Paphos Castle
A look at this well know castle from the west side. It is possible to explore inside and along its roof -at a cost but I believe it is largely empty except for the odd exhibition and fact boards. - Located on the edge of Paphos harbour. It was originally built as a Byzantine fort to protect the harbour. It was then rebuilt by the Lusignans in the thirteenth century after being destroyed in the earthquake of 1222. In 1570 it was dismantled by the Venetians.

Best viewed large.

Thanks Keith. Yes a fine spot with great views towards the castle. There is an attractive pond in front of the castle but the lighting was wrong for that. I have got some of that from an earlier holiday. A fine walk around here that I suspect that you too would enjoy. Our Sea Caves coast and accommodation was about 15 miles up the coast from here.

Thank you Marek. It is a very inter sting building for sure and keeps the tourist eye looking back for more. Glad you liked it.

Yes George, I took a range of shots at other focal distances but this suited good. I liked the water wave line here going straight to the castle.
