I could easily see some fans of the last-gen games ( and I'm one myself ) getting all in a huff about this movie, but as far as game-to-screen transitions go I thought it was good. Tron: Legacy did about as well as a sequel to Tron could do, considering much of the magic of the first one was based on the newest and uniqueness of it all.

Here's some quick thoughts on some movies I've seen in the past month that I never got around to doing full blown Movie Moments on. Death at a Funeral - Boring. What a waste of perfectly good talent. The Box - Based of of Richard Matheson's story "Button, Button", it was slow, too long and Cameron Diaz's accent was horrible. I know I'll be pretty busy over the next few days so I thought I'd post my Christmas greetings now!

Went for a drive down "Taffy Lane" which is a street of houses that goes all out when it comes to Christmas decorations. Some of them are actually very pretty... some not only cross the boarder into tacky-ville, they set up colonies.

Some movies are able to combine concepts like action, humour, drama, and romance in a seamless fashion. Other movies take these items and create an experience that seems more schizophrenic than cohesive. Enter Kick-Ass. A fun movie that despite generating some cheesy teen-love vibes came out as a solid "alright". I thought it started well, and got into things at a nice pace. We watched Shutter Island a couple weekends ago. We were expecting it to be a sort of ghost filled horror movie. We were pleasantly surprised to find out this wasn't the case.

So, I was reading through some cards of this kids game. The idea is that there's a set of clues to something and you have to guess what it is based on those clues. There was one line in particular that caught my eye: "Stick your finger in my hole." Let's just pause for a moment and take that in. Wait... maybe that's not that term I want to use. (The answer is "donut" by the way.)

I saw Inception this past week; it's a very good movie. I must admit that I did fall victim to hype however, because it wasn't the mind blowing experience I was preparing myself for. Still, it has a great story, great cast, and was very well made even with a few twist and turns that I could see coming despite my attempts to lose myself in the moment and not think about the next steps (as I tend to enjoy doing in movies). I have to start by saying that when it comes to sub-sandwich places, I am a subway guy. That's what I'm used to. So I ventured into a Quiznos, since it was close by one day. I hadn't gone to one in years, and figured I'd give it another shot. What a pain.

Zombieland & Shaun of the Dead. Both were on the Movie Network this past weekend. Both very similar in many ways. They are zombie movies that are very entertaining and work to be fun instead of scary. They don't take themselves too seriously, and seem oddly more realistic on some levels than other zombie flicks I've seen (although I honestly haven't seen very many). I've got no problem with the fact that more and more stores are charging for plastic bags; they want you to bring your own reusable bag, and that's fine. But because I bring my bag, does that really mean I have to pack it? Did they cut your salary as well to help with costs? No? Pandorum is a sci-fi horror movie where a man awakens on a space ship with memory loss while other passengers are slowly introduced and he needs to start up the main reactor while avoiding deadly flesh eating monsters while the earth has blown up while trying to colonize a new planet while fighting off a mental condition brought on from such voyages causing paranoia and the space crazies! [inhales]. Phew... busy movie.

I'm not really what you'd call a Star Trek fan. I've watched episodes of the original series, and I used to regularly watch the Next Generation. I never got into DS9 or Voyager, and I never delved into the extended universe.
