State of Play is a drama/political thriller, I guess you would say. It stars Russel Crowe, Rachel McAdams, and Ben Affleck, with a good supporting cast. I saw something interested this past week. It was a commercial for the Canadian Armed Forces.

My wife wanted to see this movie Inkheart, so I sat down and watched it with her. It was better than I expected. I guess it could be considered a family-fantasy movie with some action and adventure thrown in, and some darker themes placed throughout.

I think it's silly that McDonald's has got the restaurant sponsorship for the Olympics. Could there be another restaurant as far away from the world of health, strength and discipline than McD's?

I watched Valkyrie this past week, and I enjoyed it. Tom Cruise plays a Nazi trying to remove Hitler from power. There's lots of great actors in it... and Tom Cruise as I mention ;) Actually, I really don't have a lot against Cruise in the movie world. I saw Traitor this week. it was good. It's one of those international terrorist, FBI investigation type movies, along the same lines as Body of Lies ( but BoL was better ).

Angels & Demons is the film sequel to the DaVinci Code staring Tom Hanks and Ewan McGregor. I think the books were released in a different order than the movies though.

My wife and I watched Knowing the other night (staring Nicolas Cage). I did not like it. The beginning was cool, but I found it soon lost it's edge. The only thing that kept me watching until the end was to see how the world was going to end, and if the writers actually went through with it. I didn't really care a whole lot about the characters, and what was supposed to be tense moments felt drawn out and tiring. I also did not like who the guys in the black trench-coats turned out to be. Lame…

Doubt stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Meryl Streep, and Amy Adams. The story is about a nun (Streep) investigating a priest (Hoffman) whom she suspects is beginning an "inappropriate relationship" with one or more of the alter-boys.

It's always nice when we see people put trust in someone they don't know. It's friendly, and suggests that everyone in the world is not an evil criminal, as it appears the news would like us to believe from time to time. That said, I do think there is such a thing as putting too much faith in the kindness of strangers.

Wonderful movie. It has everything! But I'll keep it short so I don't spoil it.

Ridley Scott still has it.

Passchendaele - If you haven't heard of this war movie that came out last year, I'm not surprised. I'm guessing Canadian WW1 films don't get a whole lot of notice. It was good. I had never read the book to compare it to, but it definitely doesn't feel like a superhero movie. Going in, I wasn't expecting a typical superhero movie, but this didn't feel like one at all. Yes, they are in there, but it was more of a crime drama to me then anything.
