Once a upon a time - There were 3 Explorers - [ aka 'The Saxapahaw Three' ] All had found each other through - Ipernity Photo-sharing - Imagine that - One came from the UK (but lived in the middle of a vast land called Oklahoma) - Another came from far away, but lived not too far down the road in North Carolina - The 3rd one - Well, she lived up the road from the soon-to-meet friend in North Carolina - What an interesting thing - 'Oklahoma' .. some of my friends called her that - And I met at the Airport (my spouse asked "will y'all have enough to talk about?") Oh, yes he was serious - And we haven't run out of things to talk about even if we speak in silence - Each Day Lily represents one of these Souls - All are beautiful - Treasured - Oh, there is no way to explain how much - We traveled to Saxapahaw - Had lunch in a 5-Star Gas Station / General Store - Which was better at Lunch - The Food or the People we met - We sat with the Man Who Walks the Haw - Have his business card safely tucked away - Just in case - If y'all think I'm kidding about the General Store .. 5 Stars .. well, check this ... saxgenstore.com It's my Home - North Carolina ! © All Rights Reserved Y'all are all Welcome !

next to the drive are three Dogwood trees - white, pink and a red - this area has been named ''The Dogwood Patch'' - (so I won't say 'oh, that is the Garden of Surprises' -) otherwise known as the '' Butterfly Magnet '' - since False Sunflowers (all the way from Oklahoma) were planted in this area - Zinnias were gifted last year and grew like mad (they also self-seed) - Cosmos of orange and of yellow were also seed gifts from the Gardener Down the Road - this Day Lily was a resident - she is a Tawney Lily know not what roads she wandered to get here - but, last year she looked different - got to do some research on 2016 photos - but, Spiderwort - grows and do really think it followed me from Florida, Dick ! expect Lantana to show up one day (or as I called it Florida) .. 2 June 2016 .. 2 June 2017 .. Winsome Lady became either the 1st DayLily to visit Or The 2nd .. All depends on viewpoints .. There are all sorts of criteria that a Day Lily must meet .. Per those souls who take this very seriously .. You know -- the Chapters / the Groups / the people who live and breathe the 'background' .. Hybrids Fulver .. Yes- it gets very confusing .. In my World, if it looks like a Day Lily .. It is a Day Lily .. (though I was told / informed by some group that is very serious) .. The orange Day Lily ( that I've taken bunches of photo of) .. ''They do not meet the standards of a 'true Day Lily' " .. They are also called Ditch Lily .. Personally, I don't care .. But,when I told 'them that', they were not amused .. Oh, well ... that is Life.. Our Garden of Surprises ( if you don't know why I call it that ) .. We moved back to North Carolina after many years living in Florida .. N.C. is home .... Even though the home we bought had manuals of all that had been done (even blueprints) over the years .. Not one thing about the Garden .. So, for the 1st year I photo-documented everything ... weeds and all .. From then on, I have enjoyed 'playing in the dirt' .. And I love to name plants .. oh do I ever ! © All Rights Reserved

Hollyhocks of pink with delicate ruffled skirts .. bright orange (yet a little subtle) Day Lilies .. 14 of them bloomed today~ the flowers do listen when I urge them to bloom .. Carolina Petunias .. and did not include .. Carolina Primrose of yellow .. Poppy of Orange .. Yarrow - both white and yellow ... Spiderwort .. Clematis .. Zinias bursting to open .. went out to capture the Splendor of White Dogwood near the sidewalk .. couldn't figure out what white flowers were in grass .. Dogwood don't do this .. not this way .. as I got closer .. gritted my teeth and said many things under my breath .. yes, know they lived here before anybody in the neighborhood .. looked up and down the street .. nobody had a ' visitor ' .. will put photos of the Visit Of The White Tail Deer below .. or at least the remnants of it .. but, true to form .. they touched no Iris blooms .. they do not like them ! off to mix up the yearly Deer Cocktail ! ( 4 pictures of what the Deer did - under cover of darkness or I just wasn't awake yet -- below in comments )

Bee Blooms Butterfly These are two of the four varieties of Day Lilies in bloom - Since I have no 'proper name' for them - The Yellow one is being called: Gold Dust Lily The Red with yellow throat is: Red With Marguerite back-up dancers - Oh, the feast for the bee and the Skipper butterfly is Korean Spice Viburnum - If no names are found for beauties in the Garden of Surprises - They shall be named by She-Who-Talks-To-Them ~ Gardening can be tough, but it does have lighter moments (especially when one buzzes back at the bees) © All Rights Reserved
